Her face was an intricate galaxy, fragile and littered with bright stars. A beautiful inconsistency of contrastive specks scattered across soft skin. A child’s join-the-dots game, where the end result is an elaborate web of lines and a thousand hidden pictures. Disarray of minute leopard spots, cluttered on her cheekbones. Her mama was an artist. I know this because no other, could conceive a child imbrued with such a canvas beneath her eyes.
